【摘要】:Thispracticeisusedwhenactivatedcarbonisconsideredasanadsorbentintreatingwater.Sincebothgranularandpowderedactivatedcarbonsarecommerciallyavailable,astandardpracticeisneededtoensurethattheactivatedcarbonsareevaluatedunderthesametestconditions.Specifiedparticlesizecarbonistobeusedtoensurethatthesametestconditionsareused.Thepracticeisgenerallyperformedat20x00B0;C;however,othertemperaturesmaybeusedandnoted.1.1Thispracticecoversthedeterminationoftheadsorptivecapacityofactivatedcarbontoremoveundesirableconstituentsfromwaterandwastewater.Itcanbeusedtoevaluatetheadsorptivecapacityofactivatedorreactivatedcarbon.1.2Thispracticeisnotrecommendedunlessspecialprecautionsaretakentoreducelossduringsamplepreparationandanalysis.1.3Thispracticeisrecommendedtodeterminetheadsorptivecapacityofactivatedcarbonforthefollowingapplications,butisnotlimitedtotheseapplications:1.3.1Removalofcolorfromdyemillwastewater,1.3.2Removaloftasteorodorconstituents,orboth,frompotablewaters,1.3.3Removaloftoxicantsfromwater,1.3.4Removalofsurfaceactiveagentsfromwater,1.3.5RemovalofBOD5fromsanitarywastewaters,and1.3.6RemovalofTOCfromindustrialwastewaters.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thefollowingsafetycaveatappliestotheproceduresectionofthispractice:Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
